2nd annual “Evening of Connecticut Environmental Leadership"
Tuesday, April 9, 2019
Yale Peabody Museum, New Haven, CT

Featured speaker: Ms. Elizabeth DeSombre - “Why Good People Do Bad Environmental Things”

Jointly hosted by

  CBA CEF   SWEP-CT  EPOC

Based on the overwhelming success of last year’s event at the Connecticut Science Center, the Environmental Section of the Connecticut Bar Association (CBA), The Connecticut Environmental Forum (CEF), The Environmental Professionals’ Organization of Connecticut (EPOC), and the Society for Women Environmental Professionals (SWEP) – Connecticut Chapter, are once again joining forces to host the 2nd annual “Evening of Connecticut Environmental Leadership” on April 9th 2019 at the Yale Peabody Museum in New Haven.

These organizations represent a critical part of our state’s environmental policy dialog and leadership and this is your once yearly chance to gather with all of your professional peers to reflect on our past efforts and consider our future intentions.

Please join us for drinks, dinner and a thought provoking presentation by Elizabeth DeSombre who will be speaking on “Why Good People Do Bad Environmental Things”.  We will gather in The Great Hall of Dinosaurs, the centerpiece of the Yale Peabody Museum. Featuring skeletons from the Museum’s world-renowned paleontology collections, it is also home to Rudolph Zallinger’s famous mural The Age of Reptiles.  The presentation will take place alongside the Peabody’s largest mounted skeleton, a Brontosaurus.  Our guests will have access to adjacent sections of the exhibit during cocktails and dinner.

About Beth DeSombre:

Ms. DeSombre is the Camilla Chandler Frost Professor of Environmental Studies at Wellesley College. Much of her work is on international environmental politics and law, with a focus on issues of the global commons. She is the author of seven books, the newest of which is Why Good People Do Bad Environmental Things (Oxford University Press, 2018). This year she is an Abe Fellow with the Social Science Research Council and the Japan Foundation, researching sustainability efforts of seaports. Elizabeth is also a touring folk singer-songwriter.
