The Environmental Section of the Connecticut Bar Association (CBA), The Connecticut Environmental Forum (CEF), The Environmental Professionals Organization of Connecticut (EPOC), and the Society for Women Environmental Professionals – Connecticut Chapter (SWEP-CT), are once again joining forces to host the 3rd annual “Evening of Connecticut Environmental Leadership” on April 302020 at the New England Air Museum in Windsor Locks, CT.

These organizations represent a critical part of our state’s environmental policy dialog and leadership and this is your once yearly chance to gather with all of your professional peers to reflect on our past efforts and consider our future intentions.

Please join us to explore the many incredible exhibits at the New England Air Museum. The evening will include drinks, dinner and a thought provoking presentation by Dr. James Hansen, Adjunct Professor at Columbia University's Earth Institute.

About the New England Air Museum:

The New England Air Museum is committed to presenting the story of aviation, the human genius that made it possible and the profound effects that it has had on the way in which we live. The museum houses over 80 aircraft in three large hangars and outdoor display area, as well as an extensive collection of engines, instruments, aircraft parts, uniforms and personal memorabilia. Exhibits include the history of Sikorsky Aircraft, computer-based flight simulators, and the 58th Bombardment Wing Memorial's B-29. Additionally, there are exhibits on early French aviation, the Tuskegee Airmen, the Kosciuszko Squadron, and the 57th Fighter Group. Attendees will have opportunity to tour exhibits on their own with an option to take a guided tour led by museum staff (separate sign up required).

About Our Featured Speaker, Dr. James Hansen:

Dr. James Hansen, formerly Director of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies, is an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University’s Earth Institute, where he directs a program in Climate Science, Awareness and Solutions. He was trained in physics and astronomy in the space science program of Dr. James Van Allen at the University of Iowa. His early research on the clouds of Venus helped identify their composition as sulfuric acid. Since the late 1970s, he has focused his research on Earth's climate, especially human-made climate change. Dr. Hansen is best known for his testimony on climate change to congressional committees in the 1980s that helped raise broad awareness of the global warming issue. He was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 1995 and was designated by Time Magazine in 2006 as one of the 100 most influential people on Earth. He has received numerous awards including the Carl-Gustaf Rossby and Roger Revelle Research Medals, the Sophie Prize and the Blue Planet Prize. Dr. Hansen is recognized for speaking truth to power, for identifying ineffectual policies as greenwash, and for outlining actions that the public must take to protect the future of young people and other life on our planet.
