Time and Location:
This seminar will be held on Friday, May 19, 2023 and runs from 1 PM - 5 PM at Eastern CT State University (ECSU), Willimantic, CT. Please arrive by 12:45 PM for registration and check in. Further details of the course location and parking area will be sent to registered attendees.

Course will be held in computer lab at ECSU and computers are available to use for the program. If you wish, you can bring your own laptop to the course.
This course provides an introduction and a unique hands-on experience to individuals interested in understanding the functionality of ArcGIS Online (AGOL) and the many applications available within AGOL. Attendees will become familiar with how geographic information is collected and integrated into a web mapping application commonly used in environmental consulting. Multiple spatial concepts are applied to create and share locational data used to develop web applications and dashboards in ArcGIS Online.
Dr. Meredith Metcalf has a diverse background in the natural sciences with a bachelor’s degree in Geology from Colgate University and both a master’s degree in Geology and Geophysics and a Ph.D. in Natural Resources and the Environment (with a concentration in hydrogeology) from the University of Connecticut. Dr. Metcalf, a Professor of Geographic Information Science within the Environmental Earth Science Department, is currently completing her twelfth year at Eastern Connecticut State University where her primary responsibilities are teaching introductory and advanced/applied courses in geographic information systems and remote sensing. Additional areas of teaching include computer-aided drafting and hydrogeology. Her research interests are in the use of geographic information systems to analyze groundwater sustainability, ground water quality, and groundwater flow patterns in fractured rock.
